FEBRUARY 2004

After looking at my last article, which was the end of November, I felt like I could almost cut and paste it in for this month. I have the same feelings and am at about the same place in my weight as I was then. I managed to slide through the Christmas season with only gaining about 5 extra pounds (really good for me!). It was also great because I was able to eat holiday candy and cookies and meals and not feel like I was suffering through and denying myself or enduring any guilt when I did choose to indulge. Most of the time, I made wise low carb choices and had only one serving or taste instead of more.

January begins with my husband's birthday but instead of the usual fattening carrot cake he likes each year, we went with a low carb dessert which totally satisfied us. Over Christmas, he gained quite a bit back because they have a food fest for about a month where he works. Happily, he has now lost almost all of it again. We are both watching what we eat and eating mostly protein foods and vegetables, but are nowhere as strict as when we first started out doing Atkins. (I may indulge in the low carb candies and ice cream just a little too much!) We probably won't lose as fast now either, but we are enjoying the slow gradual process, while enjoying without guilt, the times we go off for special occasions. The stores and restaurants are all on a low carb craze which I think is wonderful (though humorous that it has taken so long!) so it is very easy to make wise food choices in almost any situation.

I haven't been exercising and in fact sold my treadmill to my sister Heidi. It was taking up too much room here and not being used. I am hoping to start back up with my "8 Minutes in the Morning" but to be honest, it may be a little while as I have other pressing things that I am more interested in doing for now. I get lots of exercise chasing my 4 children around for now! I will probably take a break from these monthly weighting game articles unless I have something noteworthy to write about. I am planning to continue doing the low carb, Atkins style way of weight loss as that is still what I have found the most satisfying over all.

Hopefully in a few months, I will be back to tell you that I have lost a considerable amount of weight just in time for summer weather!
