MARCH
2003
If I titled
these Weighting Game articles, this one might be called "Errr"
or "Grrr" or "Oh Man" - you get the picture. Talk
about an up and down month. In all, I've still lost 2 pounds overall,
but at one point I was 3 pounds less than I was this morning.
I had a funny "ice cream weight loss diet" thing going for
about 3 days. To celebrate my mom and her new husband's return from
their honeymoon I had them over for lunch. My sister Lisa brought ice
cream for dessert which I haven't had for quite awhile. I decided to
have some but felt so guilty that I skipped dinner. The next morning
I was down a pound. Well, Lisa forgot to bring the ice cream back to
her house so the next day it was staring at me from the freezer and
I had another bowl for a mid afternoon snack. Again, feeling guilty,
I had no dinner. Walah...the next morning I was down another pound.
Needless to say I tried it another day and again, down another pound.
My husband thought this was so great he BOUGHT more ice cream. Of course
I yelled at him profusely "Are you trying to sabotage me?"
He just figured that since it was working I should keep doing it. Of
course my brain knew I couldn't keep this up. I didn't really like skipping
dinner although the ice cream was nice. I have done a pretty decent
job at NOT eating the ice cream my hubby bought, except for about one
bowl. In fact, I even got within one pound of my pre-pregnancy weight.
I'm so bummed cuz now I'm 4 pounds away again.
Earlier in the month, before my ice-cream diet, I decided to take the
bull by the horns again and get strict. For 5 days straight, I had a
Slim-Fast shake for dinner and all my normal stuff for breakfast (oatmeal)
and lunch (whatever). Well, whatcha know - I did lose a few pounds in
just those 5 days. I totally knew I could do it if I just put my mind
to it.
And then the baby food got stuck to the freezer and I didn't have room
for the ice cube tray and thus couldn't make my nightly shakes. Honest,
I swear that's what happened. How lame huh? The baby food I made was
liquid-ish in a zip lock bag and froze itself in the freezer to the
shelf...just where the ice cube trays go. Tonight I WILL clean off that
shelf, take it out of the freezer and put it under hot water to melt
the food and baggies off and then starting tomorrow I will eat my shakes
for dinner again.
Food management is never ending. I know I will continue to lose the
pounds, it is just a matter of how fast I lose them. Perseverance +
Consistency = disappearing Heidi.
Keep up the good work and keep a grin on your face. It could be a lot
worse.
