OCTOBER 2003

Had I written this article 2 weeks ago I would have been proud to report that I did reach a new low. BUT in the last two weeks I've gained back a couple pounds. Darn it. I think it started with the Halloween candy I bought for my jewelry show. I always like to have candy at my table to bring people in except that I was stupid enough to buy candy that I really liked. Next time, I'm buying mints or something that I can easily pass on. Also the mistake was to bring the leftovers home. I should have given them away or left them for someone else to have.

Luckily I'm interested in more than just pounds but also fitness. I'm pleased to say I've been going to the gym 3x a week and I just love to see results. My friends must be sick of me by now - talking about my muscles and making them feel them! Sorry friends!

Of course I make my husband feel my muscles too. Any chance for him to grope me I think he's happy about (and me too)!

I've been able to increase my weights on the machines little by little. It is also fun for me now to learn some new machines and really feel my muscles working, instead of a pile of flab.

I remember when I first joined the gym 5 1/2 months ago. I felt awkward and weak. My goal was to gain back my physical strength and coordination and have more energy. I am definitely on my way to doing those things.

As for my knee, I keep doing exercises to strengthen it and perhaps with more weight loss it will get stronger too.

I'm only discouraged a smidgen by gaining a couple pounds back. I'm determined to make them disappear again and instead of being afraid that I won't be able to do it...I'm confident, by experience, that I will.
