Mysticool Moms ~ parenting stories by real moms you can relate to. Parenting support, encouragement and humor for the most important job you have!

Meredith has taken her own advice about saying no (see October 2003) when you are too busy and she has stopped writing Mysticool Moms articles! We are going to miss her regular contributions and insight.

You can still enjoy her archive articles below.

OCTOBER 2003 - KNOWING WHEN TO SAY NO
Tired of people asking you for just one more commitment? But it's only once a month! Meredith has a strategy that involves making a "Yes" list that will help focus your priorities so you spend more time doing the things that really matter.

SEPTEMBER 2003 - WHERE DID MY ANGEL GO?
Four year old Yakov is going through a new stage and it is stumping Meredith. Is it the baby brother? Preschool? Attention? Independence? Anxiety? Don't you hate it when you can't figure out why your kid has turned psycho?

AUGUST 2003 - KID'S SAY THE CUTEST THINGS;
THEY SAY WHAT THEY THINK

Try a little exercise with your child and see a window into their world. Get your pen and paper!

JULY 2003 - CARPE DIEM
Meredith explains her absence from article writing and comes back with a new attitude for living and taking advantage of family time.

FEBRUARY 2003 - FINDING THE RIGHT PRESCHOOL FOR YOUR CHILD
After 30 plus years, Meredith is still best friends with her first gal-pal she met in preschool. Finding the perfect one for her own son was top priority. Find out which parenting education guru actually visited her school and is working with the staff.

JANUARY 2003 - BRINGING HOME NEW BABY
Nothing flows more freely than advice about parenting when you are pregnant. Don't let us be any different! Read Meredith's "must" list for any new parent.

DECEMBER 2002 - MAKING THE BEST OF A SCREW-UP
OK - none of us are perfect, but what do you do when you totally blow it? The baby is puking, your pre-schooler won't get his clothes on and did I mention you're late! Read Meredith's story that all of us can relate to.

NOVEMBER 2002 - EEK-BORO

We have all heard people say that a child's memory is like a steel trap, but it is amazing to me how true that can be.

QUICK STATS
Meredith met her spouse/best friend in college 16 years ago, and married him 8 years ago. Together they have Yakov, 4 and Avi is 1 (also a lab, Max and two pug dogs, Coley and Shayna Punam). In addition to being a full time mom, Meredith is also an art instructor/professor at a private art College. Her own artwork is temporarily on hold until her children are in school.

BIO

I always knew I would have kids when I was ready, there was never any hurry. I always knew I would love being a mom immensely, but I never really knew how intensely I would love it- how could I? I am overwhelmed with the love that I feel for my children on a daily basis.

I have had experience teaching people from all walks of life and of all ages (2 years old through Senior Citizen) but of course none can compare with the intensity of teaching, learning from, and loving your kids day in and day out. Working with toddlers and preschool age children can be the most exhilarating or the most exhausting experiences. (So can teenagers...try a whole classroom of thirty sometime!)

As I am constantly attempting to create balance in my life and for my family, I feel I have found a certain truth: balance is elusive and I must continue to strive for it as each day brings something new.
